Kicking off with our #FirstFriday GNO Heels class to Todrick Hall’s anthem “Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels” – This Friday, June 2nd 7:15pm. Then, Miqui returns with another fierce Vogue sesh for all levels on June 13th.  Saturday morning, we celebrate Stonewall Pride Parade with a colorful WERK dance cardio class on June 17th, 9:30am. By popular demand, our Queen of Broadway brings to us choreo straight from Kinky Boots (Heels optional) on June 20th.  On June 27th, we close the month with “Pride” Line Dancing with Mr. Lee.

APRIL SHOWERS

It was clear this month that Dance & movement are an integral part of life. Whether dancing alone in front of your bedroom mirror or in a class setting, dance is love, dance is therapy, dance is universal! In those few minutes, you get lost in the music, in the movement. The body takes over & the mind rests. We remain present, and for that moment, nothing else matters, nothing else bothers, nothing else consumes.

We, at the Royal Peacock Studio, hope that you always remember that joy you feel during & after dancing. And if you are ever feeling stressed, down-spirited, melancholy, or notice your vibration levels dwindling for any reason at all – we encourage you to dance it out immediately. Whether with us or alone in the shower, turn up the music & groove to your favorite beat until it all re-aligns for you.

TWO BRAND NEW Spotlight classes make their way onto the schedule this month! First, in celebration of Cinco de Mayo, we kick off our Tuesday Spotlight line-up with Cumbia Wepa May 2nd with our Queen Miqui.  How do you say “shuffling” in Spanish?  Come find out! You will NOT see this class at ANY other studio & may never will – so take advantage & come try out this Latin craze dance.

May 9, our Queen Caroline, returns with Contemporary, followed by Belly Dance with Queen Marina on May 16th. Our Queen of Showtune choreography returns with Broadway on May 23rd .  And, lucky for us, May happens to have FIVE Tuesdays, so we bring you our 2nd new class BOLLYWOOD with our Princess Sam on May 30th.  Clear your calendars, you do not want to miss any of these soul-filling classes.

These dancers worked overtime to nail this video & we are so excited to share the final product.  The commitment & focus required to learn and attack all it takes to ensure this project’s success is not to be taken lightly. They say Peacocks cannot fly - but 2022 sure did! Though, this comes as no surprise when you’re having this much fun. To reminisce & celebrate all the good times we had this calendar year, please enjoy this video montage. What we see are ear-to-ear smiles, mind-tickling laughs, and soul-warming moves. Ever wanted to be in a music video?

Only offered once or twice per year, this 5-part series puts you in the middle of a professionally crafted & custom-made dance Video! In only four 60-minute sessions, you will learn a full choreographed piece, formations, and performance technique by the Choreography King himself. This bucket list experience concludes with a 2-hour production day, full attire, makeup, and recording sessions.

In only 6 hours of your time, spread over 4 weeks, you are provided a fully professional & conceptualized video to share with the world?

JANUARY SCHEDULE

Unfortunately, Peacocks, due to the conflict with our Videography Workshop on Fridays, we will have to cancel Girls Night Out Heels class this month. We will resume the #FirstFriday of February and it is sure to be fierce!

As always, keep an eye out on our Instagram page for our exciting Spotlight classes! We kick off the month with a Modern class with Sam on January 10th and Tanesa will return for Jazz Fusion on January 17th. On January 24th, we will host our first West African class with Chika and finish off the month with Vogue on January 31st - do not miss!

CLASS ADDITIONS & CHANGES

Part of our ongoing efforts to keep you moving & grooving - we are so excited to announce our partnership with the amazing Bravo Dance Company. WORLD CHAMPION Salsa dancers Alfonso & Jessica, with over 20yrs of teaching experience, will be holding two levels of Salsa classes at the Royal Peacock Studio starting January 12th & every Thursday thereafter! Royal Peacock Membership rates DO apply! For more details, send us a message.

Changes go both ways, sadly - as we grow & adapt to the needs & direction of our little studio, we make the following changes to the schedule:

Effective immediately, Monday & Wednesday 6:30am Rise & Grind class will be removed from the schedule - but please do catch the Saturday 8:30am class going forward. Additionally, a slight change to our Tuesday lineup - TurboMAX will not take place at 5:30pm, and CORE30 will begin immediately following at 6:30pm. We feel this will allow more of you the chance to experience this killer ab-blaster just before our Tuesday Spotlight Series classes.

We hope you had a fun & safe Halloween night. A shout-out to all the volunteer dancers that performed the Thriller dance alongside the Cheer & Dance FTL group at FTL Pride’s Halloween Extravaganza. These Peacocks looked deathly, but their performance was very much alive! Stay connected via Social Media as we are always in need of Dancers at various events, including a flash mob in January!

As we “fall back” into our normal schedules, allow me to highlight a few upcoming classes - we’ve got you covered:

Be sure to keep an eye on the schedule as we approach the holiday season. There will be modified classes, special subs & studio closures during Thanksgiving week. These changes will be visible on the Wellness Living calendar.
Similarly, Daylight Savings Time ends this Sunday, November 6 at 2am. Don’t forget to rewind those clocks 1 hour. This gives us more sunlight in the mornings, but unfortunately has the reverse effect on our evenings. Do your best to not let that derail your goals, Peacocks. Resist that urge to slow down, sink into the couch and gorge on heavy foods.

30 Days of Gratitude

A wise person once said, You don’t regret the things you do, you regret the things you don’t do! So, let’s be grateful for what life has to offer, for being blessed with the ability to move & groove, and dance into November with an attitude of Gratitude. We challenge you to jot down 1 thing you are grateful for every morning upon waking up. Every morning thereafter, read aloud all entries before adding the newest one. By day 30, you’ll have a beautiful reminder of how blessed you are indeed. Then, join us every evening for your favorite dance formats & more! The daily thankfulness challenge together with daily movement will increase endorphins & lower cortisol levels. You won’t regret it!

September Vibes

Wow, what a jam-packed August, Peacocks - We celebrated, we performed, we-redesigned the website & the studio - we slayed! Our 1st Anniversary Gala was a night filled with love, support, merriment, even a pop-up performance! I hope you enjoyed yourself. For those who haven’t heard the news, I have a pet name: PRINCE! The perfect name for the perfect mascot. Congrats to both Jackie Glass & Uyanga Enkhsaikhan for submitting “Prince” and winning free classes all September.

The Royal Peacock Studio Dancers

August ended with a stellar performance by your Royal Peacock Dancers at the annual JFOY Posing for a Purpose Ball. Video will be posted soon on our social media & perhaps a brief watch party at the studio so all can enjoy. While Haus of Royal Peacock did not win the trophy & prize that night, they brought the house down with a full standing ovation by nearly 500 attendees. They represented our Royal Family well and we should ALL be proud.

As we roll into September, and our final trimester of 2022, I want to highlight a few changes & exciting additions to the schedule.

Our fabulous & fierce Girls Night Out returns this #FirstFriday. Sexy steamy vibes for this one, long pants or knee pads are suggested.

Dance Fitness Class - WERK

Beginning Saturday, Sept 3rd - we are adding a second WERK Dance Cardio class to the schedule, 9:30am every Saturday. Let’s put in the WERK, so we can enjoy our weekend guilt-free. Grab a friend, I hope to see you there!

Spotlight Series Dance Classes

Clear your Tuesdays, Peacocks, we are beefing up our Spotlight Series classes for you. We kick off September with a Contemporary class with Ms Caroline. Nancy returns with our favorite Broadway class Sept 6th. The illustrious Dee will bring a fierce Jazz Fusion class on Tuesday, Sept 13th, followed by our King of Ballroom, Mr Lee, teaching Salsa on Sept 20th.

We have two NEW Spotlight classes thereafter: Sept 27th, we bring you Belly Dance for beginners and by popular demand, VOGUE elements on October 4th. We are working diligently to bring unique formats that will broaden your horizons & dance experiences. See you on the dance floor.

Lastly, in observance of Labor Day, the studio will be closed Monday, Sept 5th. I encourage each of you to take some time to rest, reset, and recharge. Your body will thank you.

In addition to the Royal Gala - the Royal Peacock, in sponsorship with Dance Fort Lauderdale, will be hosting auditions for dancers to be part of a new squad! All levels encouraged. Julian’s Fountain of Youth presents: Posing for a Purpose, a ballroom-style battle (in the categories of Vogue, Cat walk, Lip Sync) for the WIN! Your Royal Peacock dancers are preparing a fierce performance for the stage. We hope you will be there cheering us on and / or consider donating to the charitable organization. Grab your tickets now! Peacock - PRIDE Month has arrived! And, boy, do we have a lineup for you!

Pride is especially important to the Royal Peacock Studio, as it is a celebration of Love in all forms, puts a spotlight on Diversity & Inclusion, and encourages Uniqueness & creativity in all of us. The Royal Peacock has teamed up with WMEG & Stonewall Pride to bring to you a month packed with color & excitement! Please consider celebrating with us at any/all of the special happenings below:

We begin this Friday, June 3rd, with #FirstFriday Girls Night Out/Heels Class - an Official Stonewall Pride Kickoff event. Adam Anthony brings back his iconic stage choreography to “Nails Hair Heels” by Todrick Hall. Wear all black with pops of Pride. Special Champagne Toast to follow.

Lastly and MOST IMPORTANTLY - WMEG & Stonewall Pride need YOU. Yes, YOU! The Royal Peacock, organized, conceptualized, mixed & choreographed by our very own Adam Anthony, will be participating in a FLASH MOB at Pride, June 18th. ALL ARE NEEDED! Video tutorial and full presentation are available now. Additionally, we will be hosting 2 rehearsals in the coming days/weeks. Beginners are very much welcome; the choreography is attainable and not ALL choreography needs to be learned. Please head over here for details, videos, and more.
